One Dead After Building Collapses in Istanbul

A tragic incident occurred in Istanbul, as two two-story buildings collapsed in the Fatih district, on Embe Street. The collapse caused panic and damage to neighboring buildings. Strong forces from the Fire Department, AFAD, Police, and Ambulance Service were immediately mobilized, with the assistance of specially trained rescue dogs. Rescuers worked for approximately six hours under difficult conditions to rescue those trapped. A total of 11 people were rescued alive and taken to hospitals, with 10 not being in danger. Unfortunately, one of the injured succumbed to his injuries later. The authorities proceeded to evacuate the area for safety reasons, while the search for any other trapped people continues. The Governor of Istanbul, Davut Gül, was at the scene and stated that the operations are coordinated by the local administration with the participation of all relevant services. At the same time, a judicial investigation has begun into the causes of the collapse, with two prosecutors taking over the case. The Turkish Minister of Health, Kemal Memişoğlu, expressed his sympathy to those affected and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
