Olgün: 'The Discussion Was Good, But...' - Her Message After the Two-Hour Meeting

The Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Maria Angela Olgün, concluded a two-hour meeting with the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhürman. Ms. Olgün stated that the discussion was constructive, but there were no significant developments. The two leaders agreed to continue efforts to reach agreements on confidence-building initiatives and the commencement of substantive negotiations. No new expanded meeting is scheduled, while small progress was reported on issues such as halloumi and road tolls. Ms. Olgün emphasized the importance of direct dialogue between the two leaders to advance the peace process.
