Old KEN Paphos: Delay in Utilization Fuels Tensions in Geroskipou

The delay in utilizing the old KEN Paphos site in Geroskipou is causing increasing concern and friction between the Ierokipia Municipal Council, local stakeholders, and organizations. The issue, which has been pending for five years, has led to disagreements within the Municipal Council and uncertainty about the future of the site. Local stakeholders express their concern about the lack of decisions regarding the type of utilization and development of the space, despite the fact that almost five years have passed since its purchase. The lack of a clear vision for the future of KEN has created a deadlock and disappointment. According to information, the priority is to mature ideas for the regeneration, upgrading, and reuse of the space, rather than making a final decision on the type of utilization. At the same time, the process of restoring the static and structural adequacy of the existing buildings is being promoted. The Municipality is preparing to claim European funds, by graphically depicting utilization scenarios. The proposals take into account the preservation of the character of the building complex, the reuse of the complex in a sustainable way, and its interaction with the surrounding areas, such as the Sculpture Park and the Central Square.
