Northern Lights Visible in Northern Greece - Photos from Thessaloniki & Corfu

A spectacular display of the Northern Lights was visible in regions of Northern Greece, including Thessaloniki and Corfu, due to an extremely powerful geomagnetic storm G4, the strongest in the last 20 years. The phenomenon, usually observed only in extreme northern latitudes, appeared with bright shades of pink, green, purple, and red, causing awe and a wealth of photos and videos. The Northern Lights are caused by solar flares interacting with particles in the Earth's atmosphere. In Chortiati, Thessaloniki, the sky was illuminated with red and purple hues, while in Corfu, the phenomenon was recorded above the island, a rare sight for Greece.
