No Bail for Suspect Facing Extradition to France Due to Flight Risk

The Court of Appeal has denied a bail application for A.A.T., who is wanted by French authorities under a European Arrest Warrant for financial crimes. The decision was based on the increased risk of flight, given the initial court decision for extradition and the active warrant. A.A.T. argued that he has strong ties to Cyprus, including family and businesses, as well as health issues requiring regular monitoring. However, the Court of Appeal ruled that these factors were insufficient to guarantee his stay in Cyprus. The case originated with a first-instance decision by the Limassol District Court on December 15, 2025, which has already been appealed. The Legal Service supported the denial of bail, emphasizing the flight risk following the initial decision.
