Nexans: Successful Sea Trial of Cables for GSI Allays Concerns Over Technical Feasibility

Nexans announced the successful completion of a sea trial for the underwater electrical cables of the Greece-Cyprus interconnector project (GSI), demonstrating the technical feasibility of the project. The trial, conducted at a depth of 3,000 meters west of Sicily, confirmed that the cable can be safely installed and operated at great depths. Nexans emphasized that the successful trial allays any concerns regarding the technical implementation of the GSI, which is one of the largest and deepest underwater electrical interconnection systems globally. The trial included the installation and retrieval of cable sections, as well as high-voltage electrical tests.
