New turn in the Faidonos case: Police receive documents and open third investigation

The case involving the suspended Mayor of Paphos, Faidonas Faidonos, is entering a new phase with the opening of a third investigation into allegations of domestic violence. A crucial role in the developments is played by a medical report that came to light, which records an examination of his wife in 2017 at the General Hospital of Nicosia. Officers of the TAE Nicosia received the relevant documents from the website that published them, with the aim of evaluating them. The documents include handwritten references to “beating by husband” and medical diagnoses for injuries to the skull, neck, and thigh, as well as repeated visits by the wife to medical services during the same period. The case had already been investigated twice in the past (2018-2019 and 2026) without sufficient evidence emerging to bring Faidonos to court. The resumption of investigations creates new data, as the existence of authentic documents may lead to a reassessment of the case and further taking of testimonies. Faidonas Faidonos has rejected the accusations, speaking of a targeted attempt to politically eliminate him, while his wife has stated that she never filed a complaint against him and that the allegations are false. The next period will be critical, as the evaluation of the documents and the cross-checking of the information will determine the course of the case.
