New Statement from Letymbiotis Regarding Video: Hybrid Activity Case Against the Republic of Cyprus Under Investigation

Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis issued a new statement regarding the controversial video circulating online, which allegedly depicts discussions about funding to the government. According to Mr. Letymbiotis, based on further investigation, a case of hybrid activity against the Republic of Cyprus is being examined. The Attorney General and the Chief of Police have been informed. Initially, Mr. Letymbiotis described the video as malicious and a product of editing, claiming it attempts to damage the government's and the country's image through false claims. The video, which appeared on an account with unknown origins on the 'X' platform, allegedly features a former Minister, businessmen, and alleged investors. Former Minister Giorgos Lakkotrypis also expressed the opinion that the video is a product of editing, aimed at harming the country, the President of the Republic, and himself personally. He filed a complaint with the Police and stated that he would submit all the evidence at his disposal. The leak of the video occurred shortly after the start of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU, raising concerns about potential attempts to defame the country and the government.
