New Foot-and-Mouth Disease Outbreaks in Cyprus: Cases Rise to 22 Farms

New cases of foot-and-mouth disease have been detected in eleven livestock units in the Livadia and Oroklini areas, bringing the total number of infected farms to 22. The number of infected animals is estimated to reach 16,000. Veterinary Services have begun distributing 529,000 doses of vaccines that arrived from France, while procedures for culling infected animals and laboratory tests continue. The situation is being closely monitored, and farmers are urged to comply with all biosecurity measures to limit the spread of the disease.
