Netherlands: Father and Sons Convicted of 'Honor Killing' of 18-Year-Old Daughter

A Syrian father and his two sons have been convicted in the Netherlands for the murder of their 18-year-old daughter and sister, Rayan, in an honor killing that shocked the country. The father, Khaled al-Najjar, was sentenced to 30 years in prison, while his sons, Mohamed and Muhannad, received 20-year sentences. Rayan had adopted a more Western lifestyle, which her family considered 'shameful,' as she refused to wear a headscarf and was active on social media. The sons were found guilty of participating in transporting Rayan to the location where she was murdered, knowing their father's intentions. The court emphasized the brutality of the crime and Rayan's composure in the face of death, as well as the father's DNA found under her fingernails, proving her resistance.
