NATO Patrols in Greenland Proposed as Crisis Deepens

Denmark is proposing the launch of NATO patrols in Greenland, in response to Donald Trump's challenges to the island's defense and threats of potential military invasion. Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen announced that he has proposed a framework to the NATO Secretary-General for implementing these patrols. The move comes after Denmark dispatched additional troops to Greenland, including the head of the army, as a sign of Copenhagen's determination to protect the region. Denmark faces the need to strengthen its presence in the Arctic, given the strategic importance of Greenland and the interest shown by global superpowers such as the United States, Russia, and China. Germany and France have also called for a coordinated European response to Trump's threats of tariffs, highlighting the need for unity and resolve in addressing the challenges posed by US policy. Strengthening the allied presence in Greenland is a step in that direction.
