New Decree for Foot-and-Mouth Disease – New Measures and Changes

A new Decree has been issued by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment regarding foot-and-mouth disease, including additional provisions and prohibitions on the movement of materials and products (wool, hides, manure), as well as provisions for the slaughter of animals and the shearing of cloven-hoofed animals. A new date is also set for the harvesting of feed. The new Decree supplements existing provisions regarding the movement of cloven-hoofed animals, grazing, feed, and veterinary medicines. The Authority determines the zones where the restrictive measures apply. Non-compliance with the Decree carries an administrative fine of up to €5,000. The new Decree replaces the previous one of March 5, 2026. Instructions for the movement of vehicles for cutting and transporting silage are available at a related link.
