The Minister of Labour and Social Insurance, Marinos Mousiouttas, met with the President of EDEK, Nikos Anastasiou, and a delegation of the party, to discuss the situation in tourism due to the war in the Middle East and pension reforms. The Minister stated that the government is studying the situation in tourism and will proceed with relevant studies to be ready to react. The 12% proportional reduction in pensions before the age of 65 was also discussed, with the Minister assuring that this 12% will be reduced within the framework of pension reform, depending on the criteria to be decided. The repayment of the state's €12 billion debt to the Social Insurance Fund was also discussed, which will be done gradually as part of the reform. The Minister stated that the aim of the reform is to increase low pensions. EDEK expressed its views and received assurances of cooperation and problem-solving. Mr. Mousiouttas thanked EDEK for the meeting and stressed the importance of cooperation for the good of citizens.
