Modern Infrastructure is Crucial for EOA Upgrade, Says Interior Minister

The Minister of Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, emphasized the importance of modern infrastructure for the upgrade of the Provincial Self-Government Organizations (PSGO). During the inauguration of the new premises of the Nicosia PSGO, he stated that the infrastructure project, costing over €2.7 million, significantly strengthens the organization's capabilities. The completion of the project is a step towards a more modern and efficient governance model. The PSGOs have taken on critical responsibilities, such as sewage, water supply, and licensing, with the aim of improving the daily lives of citizens and accelerating procedures. The Ministry of Interior supports the PSGOs with legislative amendments for their smooth operation. The new facilities of the Nicosia PSGO include the South Wing, with modern office spaces and meeting rooms, capable of accommodating 65 employees. In addition, a specialized archive has been created for the management of physical files and digitization, allowing for faster issuance of certified copies of licenses. Particular emphasis was placed on the Public Service Center, where the service points increased from 10 to 19, reducing waiting times and improving the quality of services. Strengthening the Development Licensing Department is considered a prerequisite for promoting local development and enhancing competitiveness. The Minister assured that the Ministry will continue to support the PSGOs, ensuring their effective operation. Upgrading infrastructure, combined with staffing and streamlining processes, is key to improving the operation of the PSGOs and providing quality services to citizens and professionals.
