Mitsotakis asked for lifting of casus belli - "Valuable friend the Greek Prime Minister"

The meeting between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara concluded, as part of the 6th High-Level Cooperation Council. Both leaders agreed to continue the dialogue and strengthen mutual contacts. Erdogan stressed the need for political will in resolving existing issues and referred to the issue of minorities in Thrace. Mitsotakis emphasized the value of dialogue and the management of problems with composure and responsibility, based on international law. He also called for the lifting of any threat to the relations between the two countries and referred to the Cyprus issue, expressing hope for a restart of the dialogue from 2017. Finally, he responded to Erdogan's references to the "Turkish minority" in Thrace, emphasizing that its status is defined by the Treaty of Lausanne.
