Ministry of Agriculture: Full Organization of Akamas Forest Park in Progress

The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announced that the full functional organization of the Akamas National Forest Park, including the implementation of an integrated access management system, is ongoing and remains the ultimate goal. The announcement comes in response to recent reports regarding the implementation of terms and the re-evaluation of the Park's Sustainable Development Plan. The Ministry emphasizes that the protection of Akamas' ecological integrity, compliance with the environmental framework, public safety, and fire protection are non-negotiable priorities. It points out that the management of the area is carried out within a complex framework, where the state is called upon to balance multiple needs. Specifically, regarding the Aphrodite Baths – Fontana Amorosa road, the Ministry states that any interventions are being considered with full awareness of the area's environmental character and increased risks. These interventions are limited to the absolutely necessary extent for reasons of public safety, safe traffic, and fire protection. Finally, the Ministry recognizes the role of environmental organizations in public dialogue and has invited their representatives to a meeting for an update on developments.
