Michael Carrick Appointed Manchester United Manager Until End of Season

Manchester United announced on Tuesday (January 13th) that Michael Carrick will take over as the team's manager until the end of the 2025/26 season, replacing Ruben Amorim. Carrick is a well-known figure in the club's history, having played 464 games for United. During his career, he won five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Champions League, the Europa League, and the Club World Cup. After retiring from professional football in 2018, Carrick joined the first-team coaching staff, working alongside Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and also served as caretaker manager. He has spent the last two and a half years as head coach at Middlesbrough. In his first statements, Carrick said: "It is an honour to lead Manchester United. I know what it takes to succeed at this club and I have great faith in the players and their abilities." Football director Jason Wilcox stated: "Michael is an excellent coach and fully understands what it takes to succeed at Manchester United."
