Maduro: Ready for Talks with US on Drugs, Oil and Economy

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has stated he is “ready” for talks with the United States regarding drug trafficking, oil, and the economy, in an effort to de-escalate tensions with Washington. The statement comes amid increased US pressure on Caracas, with the deployment of significant military forces in the Caribbean. Maduro proposed discussions for an agreement to combat drug trafficking and for investment in Venezuelan oil, citing the deal with Chevron as an example. However, he avoided directly commenting on accusations by Donald Trump of a US raid on a Venezuelan port facility, stating he could discuss it later. This move appears to be an attempt to open a dialogue with the US despite the ongoing political and economic challenges facing Venezuela.
