Lukashenko in North Korea - Meeting with Kim Jong Un

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, was received by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on his first official visit to the isolated country. The visit includes welcoming ceremonies and a visit to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, where Lukashenko laid flowers on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Both countries are subject to Western sanctions, have close ties with Russia, and are accused of human rights violations. Belarus and North Korea have supported Moscow in the war in Ukraine, with Pyongyang sending troops and weapons and Minsk serving as a staging ground for a Russian invasion. South Korean and Western intelligence services report that North Korea has sent thousands of troops to Russia, mainly in the Kursk region, along with artillery shells and missile systems. North Korea is subject to strict sanctions due to its nuclear program and its support for the war in Ukraine.
