Lufthansa Suspends Flights to Tehran Until March 29

Lufthansa is suspending flights to and from Tehran until March 29, in response to rising geopolitical tensions in the region. The decision follows the company’s previous announcement to bypass Iranian and Iraqi airspace, but Lufthansa will now use a corridor within Iraqi airspace. Lufthansa’s subsidiary, Austrian Airlines, is also suspending flights to Tehran until February 16. These actions come after the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) recommended that airlines avoid Iranian airspace due to US threats of a potential attack on Iran. The suspension of flights and the change of routes highlight the increased concern for the safety of air transport in the region, and the adaptation of airlines to changing geopolitical conditions.
