Low Water Inflow to Dams in Larnaca and Famagusta

Water inflow to dams in Larnaca and Famagusta remains low compared to the same period last year, despite recent rainfall. According to the Department of Water Development, the Kalavasos, Lefkara, and Dipotamos dams have water storage levels corresponding to 8.4%, 12.3%, and 25.9% of their capacity, respectively, while the Achna dam is only 2.1% full. These quantities are significantly lower compared to the same period last year, when the dams had a fullness of 27.6%, 29%, and 35.8%, respectively. The total water inflow since October 1st, 2023 is also lower than last year, indicating the need for prudent water resource management.
