Low Water Inflow into Larnaca and Famagusta Dams Despite Recent Rainfall

Despite recent rainfall, the inflow of water into the dams of Larnaca and Famagusta remains low compared to the same period last year. According to data from the Water Development Department, the inflow of water into the Kalavasos, Lefkara, and Dipotamos dams is significantly lower than last year, while no inflow has been recorded at the Akhna dam since the beginning of the period. The dams' capacity ranges from 2.1% (Akhna) to 25.9% (Dipotamos), indicating the need for continuous monitoring of the situation and water resource management measures. The low water inflow, despite the rainfall, is a worrying sign for the hydrological situation in the area and exacerbates the challenges Cyprus faces in ensuring adequate water supply.
