Lemesos Arson Spree: Third Suspect Detained, Financial Motives Investigated

New evidence regarding the arson attacks in Limassol was presented in court, leading to the eight-day detention of a 28-year-old, the third suspect. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage, informant testimony, and launching a financial investigation, as the motives appear to be financial. The suspect refused to provide a DNA sample, while the lifting of telecommunication data is expected. According to the police, three people with specific roles participated in the arsons. The 28-year-old was a partner with the 33-year-old suspect in a cafe in Nicosia, which was the target of an arson attack in 2024. The suspect's defense questioned the detention, considering the information 'stripped,' but the judge confirmed the informant's details. His mobile phone was confiscated for examination. The informant has cooperated with the police in the past with positive results.
