Legal Service Investigates Allegations Against MP Nikos Sykas

The Legal Service is expected to review a complaint filed by a woman against DISY MP Nikos Sykas, alleging assault and causing bodily harm. The complaint concerns an incident that occurred abroad, but according to Cypriot law, it can be prosecuted in Cyprus if the offense carries a prison sentence of more than two years. The case also includes allegations of psychological violence. To proceed with the investigation, the lifting of Nikos Sykas' parliamentary immunity is required, a process that begins with a request from the Attorney General to the Supreme Court. The DISY Executive Office has already met and will convene a Political Office to discuss the matter.
