Law Proposal to Tackle Traffic Congestion Discussed by Transport Committee

The Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Communications and Works has begun discussing a new law proposal to address the traffic problem in Cyprus, submitted by DISY MP Fotini Tsiridou. The proposal aims to create an “umbrella” law that will affect the daily lives of citizens and improve traffic flow. It includes the establishment of traffic management centers in each province, the right to tow vehicles obstructing traffic, priority lanes, flow zones with parking restrictions, school protection zones, and staggered working hours. It also provides for the integration of teleworking and the provision of open data for traffic monitoring. Tsiridou described the traffic problem as a “plague” and expressed her satisfaction with the positive response from stakeholders.
