Lavrov: Moscow Has Not Set Any Deadline to End the War

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow has not set “any deadline” to end the conflict in Ukraine. The statement was made before meetings between Ukrainian and American envoys in Geneva, in order to prepare new trilateral talks with Russia. Lavrov stressed that Russia has not set deadlines, but has tasks it seeks to fulfill. Ukrainian and Russian negotiators are in Geneva for separate meetings with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. US President Donald Trump is pushing for a settlement of the conflict, but diplomatic efforts have not yet yielded tangible results. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that it is not correct to determine a stage or make a prediction about the progress of the talks. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed the need for a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to resolve the important issues of the talks, especially that of territories in eastern Ukraine. Peskov reiterated that such a meeting could only take place after the completion of the negotiating work.
