Larnaca Poisoning Case: Authorities Know How Deadly Substance Ended Up in Water Cooler

Police appear to have identified the source of the deadly substance that caused deaths and hospitalizations in Larnaca. According to authorities, the substance was GBL and was found in a bottle of water originating from the property of a 44-year-old man, who is already on trial for drug possession. The 44-year-old is a person of interest in the case, as the son of one of the victims, a 78-year-old man, lived in the basement of his house. Investigators now know how the liquid ended up in the water cooler, and are awaiting the results of blood tests from the four hospitalized individuals and examinations of the 78-year-old's body to complete the picture. The condition of the hospitalized patients (aged 62, 72, 77 and 81) has improved and they are expected to be discharged.
