Labor Advisory Board Meets Under New Minister Marinos Mousiouttas

The first meeting of the Labor Advisory Board took place today under the presidency of the new Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Marinos Mousiouttas. Four key issues were on the agenda: an update on the minimum wage discussions, a decree on the employment of third-country nationals as students, pension reform, and a bill on the adequacy of minimum wages and the extension of collective bargaining agreements. The Minister of Labor informed the social partners about the draft decision regarding the employment of students from third countries, the sectors of economic activity in which they can work, and the criteria they must meet. He also explained the rationale behind setting the minimum wage, emphasizing that the number was not arbitrary. Pension reform is considered a priority by the Minister, who updated the Board on the progress made so far. In addition, the next roadmaps and priorities for the remaining issues were discussed, as well as setting specific dates for future meetings. The Labor Advisory Board includes representatives from employers (OEB, KEVE) and employees (PEO, SEK, DEOK), while PASYDY and POASO participate as observers.
