Kyperounta Sanatorium: A Part of Cypriot History and Medicine

The Minister of Health, Neofytos Charalambides, visited the Kyperounta Sanatorium and emphasized its importance as part of the history of medicine in Cyprus. The sanatorium, which initially operated for the treatment of tuberculosis, evolved into a Regional Hospital and today operates as the Troodos Hospital, providing health services. The Minister referred to the strengthening of the Tuberculosis Clinic and Cyprus's success in reducing the incidence of the disease. He also highlighted the difficulties faced by patients and their families in the early years of the sanatorium's operation, due to the stigma associated with tuberculosis and the difficulty of burying the deceased.
