Kurdish Community Appeals to Cyprus – Ceasefire Extension and Risk of ISIS Revival

The Kurdish community in Cyprus expresses strong concern over the extension of the 'ceasefire' in northeastern Syria, which they believe is a pretext for transferring ISIS members from Syria to Iraq. They condemn this transfer as not combating terrorism but recycling it, and that it endangers the security of the entire region, including the Eastern Mediterranean. The community calls for a genuine ceasefire, protection of civilians, opening of humanitarian corridors, and an end to any arrangement that allows the transfer of ISIS elements. They also urge Cypriot media to cover the situation objectively and the Cypriot people to support the effort to protect civilians and prevent the return of terrorism. Furthermore, they announce a new demonstration in Nicosia on Thursday, January 29th, to raise awareness and meet with UN representatives.
