Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated today that the death of nine infants in a Siberian hospital is a tragedy and that it is important to take measures to prevent such an event from happening again. The babies died during the New Year's holiday period in a hospital in Novokuznetsk, a city of half a million people in southern Siberia. The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Peskov did not provide further comments on the causes of the deaths, but stressed the need for preventive measures.
