KKE Calls for Greece's Disengagement from Middle East Conflicts

The KKE (Communist Party of Greece) is calling for Greece's immediate disengagement from the escalating conflicts in the Middle East, reacting to the deployment of Greek military forces to Cyprus. The party describes the developments as “dramatic” and blames the US and Israel for escalating tensions with their attack on Iran. The KKE rejects the Greek government's justification of strengthening Cyprus's defense, arguing that the real purpose of the deployment of Greek forces is to protect British bases and NATO infrastructure on the island. It condemns the escalation of Greek involvement in the war, with forces remaining in Saudi Arabia and the deployment of frigates and fighter jets. The KKE expresses concern about the risk of Greece becoming a target of retaliation due to its participation in US-NATO plans in the region. It denounces the government's “cynical” stance regarding joining France's “nuclear umbrella” and the risks to personnel serving on foreign bases. The party calls for a popular uprising to close military bases in Greece and recall Greek forces from abroad, emphasizing that the imperialists’ war is not their war.
