Keffiye made in China: When Trauma Becomes Merchandise

Director Eleni Anastasiou discusses the play “Keffiye made in China” by Antilogos Theatre, which will premiere on January 31st, 2026. The play, written by Palestinian author Dalia Taha, examines the daily lives of people living in conditions of war and exclusion, shedding light on the Palestinian issue. Anastasiou states that directing works she did not write herself gives her the opportunity to explore different perspectives and collaborate with other artists. She emphasizes the need to use theatre as a tool for communication and raising awareness about important social issues, such as inclusion and dignity. The play aims to provoke thought about the exploitation of trauma and its transformation into merchandise.
