Άγνωστες πτυχές της λειτουργίας των Βρετανικών Βάσεων, αποκαλύπτει ο πρώην Υπουργός Εξωτερικών, Ιωάννης Κασουλίδης, στο podcast Τσουρούλλης Uncensored.
Σήμερα, όπως σημειώνει, η εμπειρία και η διακριτική συνεννόηση φαίνεται να λείπουν από ορισμένους χειρισμούς.
«Εδώ τώρα βγήκε ο Υπουργός Άμυνας, προφανώς από έλλειψη εμπειρίας, και είπε έρχονται δύο πύραυλοι και κατευθύνονται προς την Κύπρο. Εννοούσε προς τις Βάσεις της Κύπρου. Δεν το είπε. Τακ! Τον επιάσαμε από τον λαιμό» ανέφερε ο κ. Κασουλίδης.
Tην ίδια ώρα, ο πρώην υπουργός Εξωτερικών ασκεί δριμεία κριτική για τους χειρισμούς, μετά την πρόσφατη επίθεση με drone στη Βάση Ακρωτηρίου. «Εκάναμε και ζημιά με την υπερβολή, με την οποία αντιδράσαμε και τώρα τρέχουμε να προλάβουμε τον τουρισμό».
Ο Ιωάννης Κασουλίδης κατηγορεί τις ΗΠΑ για μονομερείς παραβιάσεις του διεθνούς δικαίου και προβλέπει πιθανή αποχώρησή τους από το ΝΑΤΟ.
Αναφορικά με τις εξελίξεις στη Μέση Ανατολή, προβλέπει ότι ο πόλεμος δεν θα φτάσει σε τελική σύγκρουση, ενώ η οικονομική πίεση και η διακοπή των Στενών του Ορμούζ αναμένεται να οδηγήσουν σύντομα σε διπλωματικές συνομιλίες.
Kasoulides: Exaggerated Reactions After Drone Incident Affected Tourism
Former Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides referred to unknown aspects of the operation of the British Bases and criticized recent handling after the drone attack on Akrotiri Base. In the Tsouroullis Uncensored podcast, he emphasized that experience and discreet coordination seem to be lacking in some current handling, citing as an example the Minister of Defense's announcement of “two missiles heading towards Cyprus” without clarifying that the target was the Bases. Mr. Kasoulides argued that the exaggerated reaction after the drone attack caused damage to tourism, as Cyprus is now trying to deal with the negative consequences. At the same time, he strongly criticized the US for unilateral violations of international law and predicted a possible withdrawal from NATO. Regarding developments in the Middle East, Mr. Kasoulides estimated that the war will not escalate into a full-scale conflict, but that economic pressure and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz will lead to diplomatic talks. He stressed the need for careful handling and avoiding exaggerated reactions that could have negative consequences.
