K. Letympiotis Speaks of Liberation and Shaking off the Turkish Yoke

Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letympiotis emphasized the need for unity and national consciousness in the face of the challenges facing Cyprus. He spoke at a memorial service for EOKA fighter Nitsa Hadjigeorgiou and members of the ENAD Association, highlighting the importance of liberating Cyprus from Turkish occupation. Mr. Letympiotis referred to the ongoing Turkish occupation and the need for a final solution based on UN resolutions, international law, and the European acquis. He expressed his solidarity with refugees, the families of missing persons, and enclaved persons, emphasizing that the Cyprus issue is not merely a diplomatic matter but a living national wound. Furthermore, Mr. Letympiotis called for unity and avoidance of divisions, recognizing that the history of Hellenism has been marked by moments of discord. He stressed the sacrifice of the heroes and the need to set aside the small things that divide us to pursue the great things we deserve. Additionally, K. Letympiotis mentioned Nitsa Hadjigeorgiou, emphasizing her courage and self-sacrifice during the EOKA struggle, as well as her resilience in the face of torture and abandonment she suffered later.
