Justice Minister Seeks Resolution to Police Staffing Dispute in Paphos

The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Konstantinos Fytiris, visited the Paphos Police Directorate, where he was briefed on the staffing shortages and the need to strengthen security. The Minister stated that he does not believe it is worthwhile to continue the dispute with the police unions and that solutions must be found within the legal framework. He mentioned that the Paphos Police Directorate is at a satisfactory staffing level, but the increase in crime may create increased needs. He stressed the need for better utilization of existing personnel and increased patrols. Mr. Fytiris announced that developments regarding the upgrading and evolution of the Police are expected by the end of April.
