Justice Minister Discusses Prison Detox Program

The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Kostas Fytiris, met with the Cyprus Anti-Narcotics Authority (CAN) on Tuesday, focusing on the launch of a detoxification program within the Prisons. The meeting also centered on prevention, treatment, and social reintegration initiatives, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of interventions. Particular emphasis was placed on supporting individuals being released from prison, as well as strengthening cooperation for early intervention with young drug users. Additionally, the prevention of drug use in schools was discussed. The Ministry of Justice announced that the meeting aimed to shape more substantial and effective interventions to address the problem of addiction in Cyprus. The launch of the detoxification program in Prisons is a significant step in this direction.
