Italy to Send at Least 160 Naval Personnel to Cyprus for Protection

Italy will send at least 160 naval personnel to the region of Cyprus on an Italian vessel to defend the island, which was struck by an Iranian drone, amid the war between the US, Israel and Iran earlier this week, the Italian Defense Ministry announced on Friday. According to the Italian news agency ANSA, the operation will be carried out as part of a coordinated effort between Italy, Spain, France and the Netherlands. It is added that according to the Italian Ministry, the number of personnel to be sent may vary depending on the type of vessel sent, a frigate or a destroyer.
