Italian singer-songwriter Gino Paoli passed away today at the age of 91. Born near Trieste and residing in Genoa, Paoli was one of the most important representatives of the "Genoese school of performers." He became known for hits such as "Sapore di sale" and "Il cielo in una stanza," and recorded his first album in 1959. His career spanned over six decades. He survived a suicide attempt in 1963, where the bullet lodged in the pericardium. He had significant ties with singer Ornella Vanoni and actress Stefania Sandrelli, with whom he collaborated and recorded hits.
