Iranian Foreign Minister's Letter to UN Security Council, Accuses US and Israel of 'Flagrant Act of Aggression'

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, condemning the United States and Israel for a “flagrant act of aggression.” The letter states that the attacks by the US and Israel against defensive and civilian targets in Iran constitute a violation of the UN Charter. Iran states that it is exercising its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and warns that it will use all necessary defensive capabilities to counter the aggression. All bases and facilities of enemy forces in the region will be considered legitimate military targets. The letter attributes full responsibility to the US and Israel for the consequences of their actions and states that the attacks have serious implications for regional and international peace and security. Iran calls on the UN Security Council to convene an emergency meeting to address the situation. The letter is an indication of the tension and Iran's determination to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its effort to mobilize the international community to stop the aggression.
