Iran Responds to Trump's Threats: Desalination Plants Will Be Targeted – Warns of Humanitarian Disaster

Iran has responded to threats from Donald Trump, warning that if its energy infrastructure is attacked, it will target similar infrastructure of the US and Israel, including desalination plants. The reference to desalination plants is considered a form of coercion towards the Gulf countries, which are almost entirely dependent on them for drinking water. Tehran also threatens massive cyberattacks. This response comes as a reaction to Trump's 48-hour ultimatum, threatening to “level” Iran's power stations if it does not open the Strait of Hormuz. The situation is particularly critical for the Gulf countries, as an attack on desalination plants would cause a humanitarian disaster. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmail Bakai, stated that Tehran will not show restraint as long as it is being bombed, and that the attackers must stop their attacks for any response from Iran. Simultaneously, Iran retaliated against US-Israeli attacks by striking cities in southern Israel, injuring 100 people. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that US and Israeli attacks on Iran will “increase significantly” this week, highlighting the escalation of tensions in the region.
