Iran Offers Economic Incentives to Trump to Avert Attack

Iran is seeking to offer economic incentives to the United States, specifically investments in oil and natural gas, in an attempt to reach an agreement on its nuclear program and prevent a potential American attack. This effort is based on President Trump's preference for deals and the offer of a “bonus” that would include mining rights for critical minerals. American and Iranian negotiators are already in a third round of talks in Geneva, with the US demanding that Iran halt uranium enrichment. At the same time, Iran appears to be drawing lessons from the situation in Venezuela, while Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has already banned the development of nuclear weapons. The US, for its part, insists that any agreement must be permanent, addressing the “sunset clauses” that were criticized in the previous 2015 agreement.
