Iran Executes Alleged Israeli Spy

Iran executed a man, Hamidreza Sabet Esmaeilipour, who had been convicted of espionage for Israel. The execution took place on Wednesday and was announced by the Mizan news agency, a media outlet of the Iranian judiciary. Iran has been engaged in a “shadow war” with Israel for years and has previously executed individuals accused of collaborating with Israeli intelligence services. Such executions have increased significantly in the past year, following the direct confrontation between the two countries in June, when Israeli and American forces struck Iranian nuclear facilities.
