Influencer Monitoring – Report 2025 Consumer Protection Service and Advertising Control Authority

Published February 18, 2026, 09:23

The Consumer Protection Service and the Advertising Control Authority in Cyprus have intensified their monitoring of influencers regarding the disclosure of the commercial and advertising nature of their posts. At a press conference, it was reported that influencers are considered traders when promoting products or services for payment and are obliged to explicitly state the advertising nature of their content. Failure to do so may be considered a misleading commercial practice. Checks have already resulted in warning letters and fines, and an information campaign was also carried out for the public. For 2026, the authorities are committed to continued close collaboration and intensified controls, especially on posts aimed at younger audiences.
