Inflation at 0.8% in 2025 – Increases in Recreation and Restaurants

The annual increase in the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices in Cyprus was 0.8% for the period January – December 2025, according to data from the Statistical Service. In December 2025, inflation recorded a marginal increase of 0.1% compared to December 2024. On a monthly basis, the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices decreased by 0.4% in December 2025 compared to November, indicating disinflationary pressures at the end of the year. Compared to December 2024, the largest increases were recorded in the categories of Recreation and Culture (5.1%) and Restaurants and Hotels (4.4%), while the largest decreases were in the categories of Clothing and Footwear (-7.9%) and Housing, Water, Electricity and Gas (-3.2%). At the level of economic categories, the largest annual change compared to December 2024 was in Energy, where prices fell by 5.4%, while on a monthly basis, Services recorded the largest decrease, with a fall of 0.8%.
