Infant Falls From 33-Meter Height, Saved by Nurses

An 18-month-old infant fell from a 33-meter height in St. Petersburg, Russia, but was saved by two nurses who caught the child with a coat acting as an improvised safety net. The baby had opened the window on the top floor and fell, while the parents were visiting neighbors and the 18-year-old brother was playing video games in another room. The nurses, Anna Kabasova and a colleague, reacted quickly and managed to save the child, who was taken to the hospital without sustaining serious injuries. Witnesses reported that the child had been trying to open the window for about 20 minutes unsupervised. The local Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident and the supervision of the child by the parents. The window did not have a safety lock.
