Increased but Manageable Flu A Cases in Public Hospitals

An increase in Flu A cases has been observed in public hospitals following the holidays. However, according to the spokesperson of the Cyprus Public Health Services (OKYpY), Charalambos Charilaou, the phenomenon is expected at this time of year and is not cause for concern. This increase occurs annually from January to April due to the seasonality of the flu. The increased attendance at Accident and Emergency Departments is mainly due to the absence of private doctors due to leave, resulting in the entire burden falling on public hospitals. All cases were adequately managed, and the rapid flow clinics operated normally for non-urgent cases.
