Hungary Halts Transit of Key Cargo for Ukraine

Hungary has announced that it will halt the transit of key cargo for Ukraine until Kyiv allows the flow of crude oil through the Druzhba pipeline. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán accused Ukraine of blackmail and pledged to use all available means to restore the flow of oil. Orbán stated that Hungary has already stopped diesel exports to Ukraine and will also halt the transit of other important cargo. This decision comes in response to Ukraine's refusal to allow oil to flow through the Druzhba pipeline. The Ukrainian government accused Hungary of holding hostage a group of Ukrainian bank employees who were carrying 35 million euros and 9 kilograms of gold through Hungary. Hungary denies the accusations. The suspension of cargo transit is expected to have significant consequences for Ukraine, which relies on Hungary for the transport of important goods.
