Holguin: Hope for Progress on Confidence-Building Measures during Trilateral - Met Erhurman

The Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, María Ángela Holguín, expressed hope for progress on the issue of Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs) during tomorrow's trilateral meeting. The statement was made after a meeting with the Turkish Cypriot leader, Tufan Erhurman, in the occupied territories. Holguín described the meeting with Erhurman as good and preparatory for the trilateral. She noted that the trilateral will be a substantive meeting where the concerns of both sides regarding the resumption of negotiations will be discussed. Holguín expressed her expectation that the leaders will be able to make progress on the CBMs during the meeting. The trilateral is expected to be an important opportunity to discuss obstacles and find ways to advance the talks.
