Members of the Police in collaboration with the Game and Fauna Service conducted a search in the Pera Chorio Nysou area following information about individuals possessing hunting weapons. During the search, two men aged 41 and a 57-year-old were located. Two airguns and 700 airgun pellets were found near a tree, linked to the 41-year-olds and a relative. Furthermore, three dead wild birds (one hoopoe and two finches) were found inside a vest belonging to the 57-year-old. A small amount of cocaine (0.5 grams) was also discovered in the vest, leading to the 57-year-old's arrest for drug possession. He was later released, while the YKAN continues its investigations. The case of poaching has been assigned to the Pera Chorio Police Station, which is cooperating with the Game and Fauna Service to fully investigate the incident. Authorities are examining the circumstances under which the birds were killed and whether the possession of the airguns was legal. The investigation focuses on identifying those involved and determining their motives, as well as tracing the origin of the drugs. Authorities are expected to conduct further interrogations and gather evidence to complete the case.
